The US Government getting even more deeply involved in the Healthcare industry is NOT a good thing. Think about all the other things they are involved in and how those have turned out. Just look at what their minor involvement in the healthcare industry so far has resulted in. By making healthcare through an employer tax deductible, they increased healthcare costs by encouraging people who might not otherwise want or need healthcare to get it anyway, creating false demand. Now they want to get even more involved and dictate what treatments we can get, what doctors/specialists we can see and how much the doctors will get paid for it. Just look at what more state government involvement in Health care policy has done. In many states, individuals cannot afford their own healthcare because their state legislature has passed special interest mandates that require people to pay for coverages they don't want or need, like single males paying for maternity care, people having to pay for Mental Health coverage and people who don't even drink having to pay for Alcoholism treatment coverage.
The government getting involved in healthcare will shorten all our lives. Primary care doctors are leaving the profession in droves because Specialists will be paid much better under the proposed plan. That means longer waits to see a PCP. Longer waits for approval for life saving treatments. And farther travel to find a doctor as they quit or retire.
My solution - the free market. And the problem - the problem is and always be the politicians. The only solution to them is YOU. You must contact them and tell them that as your employees you don't want them to support national healthcare in any form. And you have to keep reminding them, because they have short term memory problems, caused by all the money and favors the lobbyists constantly bombard them with. Call them now, call them frequently and be sure to remind them that they represent YOU, not the special interests or lobbyists.
