No Criminal charges for Torture memos?
May 7th 2009 01:02
Are you kidding me? The only reason the justice department is not recommending criminal charges against the Bush attorneys for writing those memos is because most of the justice department is still filled with Bush staffers. The fact that they have not recommended criminal charges is criminal. This was an obvious War Crime and they should all be brought up on charges, including Chaney and Bush. The documents released leave no doubt about it and everyone should email the President and the Justice department expressing their outrage.
It's appalling to see how far our nation has fallen from our commitment to human rights. In order to restore our values and credibility in the international venue, we must demand accountability from those responsible. The last thing we as Americans can do now is adopt a 'let bygones be bygones' approach to these despicable and indefensible atrocities. In America no one should be above the law and when crimes have been committed our legal system demands accountability.
Email your representatives, the White House and the Justice department to express your outrage. Otherwise they will think that we support their lack of action and this wanton disregard for human rights.
